The joy, not the markup
Italian leather bags, cut and stitched by hand. Real craft. Without the logo tax.
LIETA started as a quiet rebellion against the markup. The same artisan in Scandicci who stitches for the famous Houses also stitches for us — same hands, same leather, same care. We just decided not to charge you twelve times the cost to put the bag in your hands. Lieta means glad in Italian. That is the point.

A bag, not a status piece
Most luxury houses mark up their leather goods 8–12 times the production cost. Half of what you pay covers boutiques on Place Vendôme and Avenue Montaigne. We don't have boutiques there.
What you pay for at LIETA is the bag — the leather, the maker, the time. Not a logo with a story written around it.
Use yours. Carry it. Let it get a little soft at the corners. The patina is the design.
Cut by hand, stitched by hand
Every LIETA bag is handcrafted in Scandicci, just outside Florence — the heart of Italian leather goods, where Gucci, Prada and Celine have their ateliers too.
The leather is full-grain Italian calf from Walpier in Tuscany, vegetable-tanned using a process unchanged since the 1700s. The lining is real Alcantara® — the same microfibre used in Ferrari and Maserati interiors. The zipper is YKK Excella — the model used by Hermès and Celine.
Edges are hand-painted in three coats. Handle attachments are hand-saddle-stitched with waxed thread, in the two-needle method. A small serial card with the bag's unique number is included in the box.
Discover the bag

Quietly, properly
Our leather is a by-product of the Italian food industry — nothing is killed for it. The tannery is a Leather Working Group Gold member, running vegetable-tannage on plant matter rather than chrome.
We make in small drops, to order where possible. No seasonal landfill. Packaging is recyclable rigid board, cotton dust bag, no plastic. Carriers we use are carbon-neutral on the EU leg.
A bag should outlast you. Ours are built to. Free repairs in the first two years, repairs at cost after that — email [email protected].
